First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the IMVU staff and agents for the continuous work you do to maintain the platform and support the creator community. Your efforts are truly appreciated.
I am writing to respectfully share a concern that affects not only myself, but many creators across IMVU, particularly those who invest significant time and effort into creating original textures and products.
At present, when cases of material or texture infringement occur, the responsibility to act lies almost entirely with the original creator. In most situations, the only available option is to file a formal DMCA report and then wait for the process to be reviewed and resolved. While we fully understand the legal necessity of the DMCA system, this process can be time-consuming, complex, and stressful for creators—especially when infringement is clear and easily verifiable.
What makes this particularly challenging is that, in many cases, the evidence of infringement is straightforward. Upload timestamps, original product listings, and catalog history clearly show which product was published first. Despite this, creators who have been wronged must still go through a formal legal process, while the infringing product often remains available during the waiting period.
From a creator’s perspective, this feels discouraging and, at times, unfair. Those whose work has been stolen must invest additional time and emotional energy simply to protect rights that are already clearly documented within the platform itself.
On behalf of many creators, I would like to respectfully suggest that IMVU consider granting staff or designated agents the ability to review clear cases of material infringement and take action proactively—such as temporarily disabling or reviewing infringing products—without requiring the original creator to always initiate a DMCA process.
We deeply appreciate the existing systems in place, and this suggestion is not meant as criticism, but rather as constructive feedback. Strengthening internal review and enforcement could significantly improve creator protection, reduce repeated infringement, and foster a more secure and respectful creative environment for everyone.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this feedback and for listening to the voices of your creator community. We truly value IMVU as a platform and hope to see continued improvements that support original creators and their rights.
Kind regards, A concerned creator, on behalf of many others
