We recently made a change to how gifting your own products works. Until recently, it was technically possible for Creators to earn cash from gifting their own products, even though this has never been allowed under the Earn Money Program or the Terms of Service.
This update serves two key purposes:
- It protects honest Creators, ensuring they can gift their products freely without the risk of this activity being mistaken for Credit manipulation.
- It helps reduce Credit laundering schemes, making them harder to carry out and easier to detect.
Additionally, based on recent Creator feedback, we’ve implemented a slight improvement. When a Creator gifts their own product, their profit is now excluded from the product price. They are only charged for the remaining balance, which includes platform fees and other costs.

In my long IMVU career I have gifted total of 14, 947 gifts. While most of them were mine, not all were. I like being generous as I know how expensive buying can get and I liked rewarding my loyal customers who support me. Evey new policy IMVU introduces recently leaves bad taste in your mouth. From paying to promote your items, to getting help for PR only with 2 top VIP plans to completely not answering any of these forums, it is very clear that they don't care. Yes people were auto gifting to cheat the system. Go after them and ban them. Don't punish honest creators who never did that. Anyhow, I will not be gifting anymore of my items or any other creators items. Afterall, what is the point? This place became so greedy that every single feature now is being monetized completely neglecting customer service.

More greed from IMVU. I think after 15 years of creating this is the last straw for me. You phase out grandfathered accounts. Put our money behind a pay wall. And even tho we gift with CREDITS WE EARNED. You also put a stop to that. Good luck getting new creators to start under these guidelines. No wonder IMVU is going down hill. Maybe worry less about Pushing us into studio and more about what the community wants.

I agree, Dose this new IMVU do anything for the people that really spend their money here, or do they just continue to take everything that belongs you... I've watched this game destroy itself with greed. This has become a money pit ...and it sucks IMVU!

I think it is horrible that you didn't make this announcement two weeks ago and I've had an open ticket about the matter for that long. Tbh, I won't gift my products now because of this. That is why we do the two week hold on our credits or cash so it can be verified. Now this is just more ways of taking earnings away from the Devs without telling them until you get a whole bunch of complaints I bet.
