Community Center Rules & Guidelines

Modified on Wed, 25 Feb at 2:54 PM

Let’s work together to make the Community Center a welcoming, helpful, and inspiring space for everyone.

Thank you for being part of IMVU Discussions! The Community Center is where you can connect with other users, ask and answer questions, report bugs, follow feature updates, participate in events and contests, and stay informed about improvements across IMVU.

Before You Post: Important Guidelines

These tips will help you get the most out of the Community Center and avoid common issues:

  • Remember: Forums are public. Never share personal information such as identification documents, private conversations, login details, or purchase history.
  • Need direct assistance from Staff? Learn how to open a help ticket here: http://im.vu/help396
  • Stay updated. Click “Follow” on a topic to receive email notifications when someone replies.
  • Creators have a dedicated space. Visit the Creator Connection section for creator-specific discussions.
  • We’re global! International Forums are available in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, and Korean.
  • Waiting on a reply? If it has been more than 5 business days, you may request escalation through a Discussion Moderator.
  • See spam or rule violations? Report them directly to a Discussion Moderator.

Moderators in the Community Center

The Community Center is a shared space. To keep it organized, safe, and welcoming, we rely on our Discussion Moderators.

Community Moderators are experienced users who volunteer their time. They are selected by IMVU staff based on conduct, communication skills, community involvement, and alignment with our guidelines.

Moderators:

  • Help organize discussions and move topics to appropriate sections
  • Provide guidance on rules and best practices
  • Share relevant Knowledge Base articles
  • Encourage respectful and constructive dialogue
  • Step in when necessary to maintain balance and safety

Important:
Moderators do not have access to accounts and cannot make technical changes. They will never ask for your password or account details. Account or billing concerns must always be handled through a help ticket.

Educational & Progressive Moderation

Our moderation approach is educational, progressive, and guided by dialogue. We understand that not all infractions are intentional. Often, users may simply be unaware of a rule. Because of this, education and guidance are always prioritized.

Moderation actions may include:

Friendly Warnings

An initial, educational reminder explaining the guideline and how to adjust behavior. These are not punitive and are meant to support learning.

Official Warnings

Issued when guidance has already been provided or when documentation of the communication is necessary. Continued violations after this stage may result in further action.

Account Suspensions

In cases of repeated violations or significant disruption, temporary suspensions may be applied to protect the community environment. Each situation is reviewed carefully, considering context, history, and overall impact.

How to Communicate in IMVU Discussions

Help us keep the Community Center positive and productive:

  • Be kind and respectful. Personal attacks, harassment, or abusive language are not tolerated.
  • Be helpful—especially to new users. We were all beginners once.
  • Use reliable resources. The IMVU Knowledge Base contains helpful articles: https://support.imvu.com/support/solutions
  • Keep discussions constructive. Frame topics in ways that invite conversation—not conflict.
  • Respect differing opinions. Share your perspective without presenting it as absolute fact.
  • Review our official Community Guidelines:

What to Avoid in IMVU Discussions

The following behaviors are not allowed and may result in moderation action:

  • Disruptive behavior (trolling, provoking, derailing conversations, or encouraging negativity)
  • Posting private conversations
  • Sharing methods to manipulate or abuse platform systems (including Peer Review, Outfit Challenges, clients, website features, or social media)
  • Promoting or linking to malicious or harmful third-party websites
  • Attempting to bypass or exploit any part of IMVU
  • Speaking on behalf of users who are banned or suspended
  • Sharing adult or sexually suggestive content (this is a general audience space)

By participating in the Community Center, you help shape the culture of our shared space. Let’s continue building a community rooted in respect, support, and meaningful connection.

Thank you for being part of IMVU!
