I was initially interested in verifying my age, but found out today that the company providing age verification are Veriff.
Veriff are a company with a track record of mishandling and illegally storing data. Their last significant breach (concerning Total Wireless) was only in December 2025, and included pictures of IDs, facial scans, full government names, dates of birth, and home addresses of customers.
They have also previously been in significant trouble multiple times for mishandled data (of note: the 2023 Illinois class action lawsuit).
I think age verification is a great idea and should be implemented for everyone's safety, but Veriff are not a safe company.
I would feel much safer on imvu and supplying my verification details if a different company was in charge of handling the verification.

Now I feel better about not having had the time to get my picture ID cards and real life face photographed by an approved notary public and officially digitized with official watercolor embedded. I bought the IMVU age verification several weeks ago while on discount but postponed going to notary public. The difficulties in getting an appointment time booked due to Christmas holidays and post New Year bottlenecking of available time slots was the Gods of Fate granting me protection.
My IMVU account still functions without the age verification requirements completed and now it makes me ponder what have I to gain with age verification anyway. Those I spend time with on IMVU can infer through chat that my maturity and wisdom level is proof enough that I'm an adult.

It seems I dodged a bullet.
