I can't seem to appear as offline

I had been complaining about this in the suggestions column but now I'm going to report this as a bug.

I had classic offline. I had my light turned off on mobile, I had things turned off anywhere I could go, and then I'm sitting there on the website looking in my inbox and answering a few messages.

Every 3 seconds I'm getting an invite from someone to a live room. I'm sorry, but if I have my light turned off I should not be appearing as online. They should be not able to click and invite me.

Also, everybody keeps messaging me wondering if I'm online and where I'm at and they say they see my light on. Then they try to invite me and get an error. That means I am showing up as able to be invited, not offline.

Lastly, and this was the real kicker, I was looking at a social media website the other night, and suddenly I'm getting dinged from people on Discord wondering if I'm online and where I'm at. I told them I'm not online, and they tell me my light is on. Only when I closed my phone did the light go off.

This is utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. I cannot have any privacy or have a moment to be offline because apparently no matter what I do I still show up as online to everyone. This is no longer some little annoyance but now a bug. Something that needs to be fixed.

I have now removed the mobile app off my phone. I remember having problems like this before and I'm not going to have it on my phone anymore. As far as I'm concerned, if my light is off and I'm in do not disturb on classic, I should appear as 100% offline to people. That means they go into their inbox, their friends list, whatever, and they don't see me online.

It's getting more annoying than anything.

So apparently there is no way to escape the mobile app in terms of privacy.

Light off on Desktop, nothing else logged in....you show up as "Online" when someone looks at who is online in their friends list.

DND on Classic, nothing else logged in....same story.

No privacy at all.  I can see why I have a few people who only do followers and no friends.

Well scratch that big idea. I did it again last night. Had only classic on and logged out of everything else, and people on the mobile app could still see me as online.

So this is a big bug.

I agree. It's not a perfect system. I want them to fix this. I'm still going to keep relaying the little things I'm finding that can at least give us that measure of privacy.

I will admit I often go to the old website to use the store or even to find things in my own catalog when I want to send something to someone. Last night. I couldn't do it just because I knew that if I logged in, I'd have the same problem. It just seems the old and the new websites are using whatever. The same system that causes us to show up as online to everybody.

I just feel like for those who really want that privacy, this might be the way at least for now until IMVU can actually fix the entire system.

Tonight I'm going to just try using desktop as opposed to Classic and again have everything logged out and see if I can have privacy. Maybe after that I'll try desktop with the website or with mobile and again see if I start showing up his online to people.

Maybe it's just an issue of classic versus new. Like if you want to use classic and have privacy, you have to log out of everything else.

in these situations i personally want to be logged in on classic client (DND) and on the old web of imvu for the message system ( inbox ). i dont have imvu mobile and im not having any pages of the new platforms or next open.

but still, everyone that is using imvu mobile can see me online.

then you get those messages like where are you, why you hiding and what not. and thats really bothering.

i dislike a lot that the different platforms dont properly connect with each other and that settings you make on client or the web cause something else on the other platforms. but being unable to properly hide is one thing..

Another thing is that the blocks for messages doesnt work properly.

Everyone probably wants to be "left alone" sometimes. For example when you wanna focus on creating or just be a hermit in your private room and look at your avatar or whatever reason a person has.

I switch my messages off here: https://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_myaccount.php

And what does it do?

It blocks other classic client users being able to send ya messages from CLIENT and the old web.

But it doesnt prevent at all that people who use some of the new platforms being able to text you.

If i set my messages to off this setting needs to work from whereever someone is trying to message you within IMVU.

Okay, interesting experiment tonight and I think it might pinpoint some of the problem.

I did a little research on Google and somebody had mentioned how the different platforms between the new and the old do not communicate with each other very well. Now I normally get on classic but I still have the mobile app and I'm often logged in on the website. I'll even use the website for my inbox.

So tonight I decided to try something. I logged out of the website. I logged out of the mobile app. I even went on my mobile browser and logged out of the website there. So literally I was logged out of anything IMVU except for Classic.

I got on classic, put myself in do not disturb, and surprisingly my night was quiet. Didn't get loads of DMS or people saying that I was online or wondering where I'm at or wondering why they can't pull me.

I even tried logging in on a web browser and on the mobile app with an alternate account I have and I checked things. I had a message in there for my primary account and nothing on there showed me as online. I went into my friends and followers and again nothing showing me online.

I think for now that's the kicker. I'll probably try this again using IMVU desktop and yet logged out of everything else. It just seems to be their system right now. Can't handle if you are logged into multiple items and obviously each one of them is communicating a different idea to the system in general.

I'll keep experimenting.
